ASEAN prioritizes food production to ensure regional food security


The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) is at a crucial crossroads when it comes to ensuring food sufficiency in the region. With an ever-growing population and the impact of climate change on agriculture, ASEAN’s priority on food production has become even more important. This regional association is actively working to strengthen its agricultural sector and promote policies that guarantee food security in the long term. This article explores the steps ASEAN is taking to prioritize food production and the challenges it faces in the process.

ASEAN comprises ten member countries with a wide diversity in terms of agricultural systems and levels of development. However, they are all united by the common objective of strengthening their agricultural sector to ensure food security. The association is promoting investments in rural infrastructure, agricultural technology and training of farmers to improve productivity and efficiency in food production.
