- Our story began in Dublin, Ireland at St James’s Gate Brewery – the home of Guinness. It was here that Arthur bought his first pub and named it after himself: Arthur’s Tavern (now known as Teeling Whisky).
- In 1867, William Smith O’Brien founded the Irish Republican Brotherhood (IRB) with other revolutionaries who wanted independence from Britain – including Michael Collins and Charles Stewart Parnell. They used secret societies called “circles” to organize protests against unjust laws such as those that restricted Catholics from voting or owning land outside their parishes; they also hoped that one day Ireland could be completely freed from British rule!
