Chris Farley takes centre stage in the documentary “I Am Chris Farley,” part of The CW’s documentary series, on Saturday, January 6.
This two-hour documentary, first aired in 2015, dives into the life of the famed comedian and actor, who unfortunately died in 1997 at the age of 33.
From 1990 until 1995, Farley was a member of the Saturday Night Live cast, and he left an everlasting stamp on comedy with performances in films such as “Wayne’s World,” “Tommy Boy,” and “Black Sheep.”
The biopic, directed by Brent Hodge and Derik Murray, follows Farley from his childhood in Madison, Wisconsin, through his time at Marquette University, and his rise in the comedy world at the famed Second City.
The documentary offers a mix of levity and passion, highlighting Farley’s most iconic characters and skits from both television and film.
The CW’s I Am series also includes documentaries on Burt Reynolds, Paul Walker, and Martin Luther King Jr., among others, providing a varied spectrum of biographies on famous people.
The network’s unique programming includes licenced written shows from Canada, demonstrating the industry’s resilience in the face of problems such as Hollywood strikes.
