“Once you’re on his list, there’s only one way out.” Kraven the Hunter marks the next installment in Sony’s growing Spider-Man universe. Sony’s previous villain and anti-hero movies include the 2018 movies poison ($213.5M domestic / $856M Global) and 2021 follow-up Venom: Let there be carnage ($213.5 million domestic/$506.8 million global), as well as last year Morbius ($73.8 million domestic/$167.4 million global). Sergei Kravinoff (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) didn’t start out as a villain, but his inside story aims to show how Kraven the Hunter became one of Marvel’s most iconic villains. The R-rated film hits theaters on October 6 and is directed by JC Chandor (A more violent year $5.7 million domestic / $12 million global, All is lost $6.2M domestic/$13.6M global).
Visionary director Luca Guadagnino’s previous films include I am love ($5 million domestic / $11.8 million global), Call me by your name ($18 million domestic / $43.1 million global) and last year Bones and all ($7.8 million domestic / $15.1 million global). His next film, The challengers, stars Zendaya as Tashi Duncan, a former tennis pro turned coach. Married to a champion on a losing streak (Mike Faist), Tash’s strategy to redeem her husband takes a surprising turn when he must confront his ex-best friend—and Tash’s ex-boyfriend -it—Patrick (Josh O’Connor). The challengers hits theaters September 15.
IN Cobweb, eight-year-old Peter is haunted by a mysterious apparition from within his bedroom wall. As Peter’s fears intensify, he begins to believe that his parents (Lizzy Caplan and Antony Starr) may be hiding a terrible secret. Cobweb hits theaters July 21.
From the manufacturer neighborhood ($150.1 million domestic / $270.6 million global) and co-writer of Crazy rich Asians ($174.8 million domestic / $238.8 million global), Joy Ride Ashley Park, Sherry Cola, Stephanie Hsu and Sabrina Wu star as four unlikely friends who embark on a once-in-a-lifetime international adventure. Audrey (Park) enlists the help of childhood best friend Lolo (Cola), college friend turned Chinese soap star Kat (Hsu) and eccentric cousin Deadeye (Wu) on a trip to Asia in search of her mother of birth (July 7).
