Disney has announced a major shake-up to its release calendar, reuniting over a dozen films, announcing each other and dropping an untitled film.
The changes start with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, that is Captain America: Brave World. Since its release on May 3, 2024, it has been moved down a few months to July 26, 2024; with Captain Marvel CONTINUED Marvels hitting theaters this November, that means there will be an 8-month gap between MCU movies in 2023/2024.
Brave WorldThe date July 26, 2024 once belonged to him Lightning, which will introduce new characters to the MCU; now, that movie comes out on December 20, 2024. The next MCU movie after that, blademoves from September 6, 2024 to Valentine’s Day 2025, with an untitled Disney film moving to bladePlace of September.
And the domino effect continues, with Fantastic four going back 13 weeks in 2025, moving it from February to May; Avengers: Kang Dynasty AND Avengers: Secret Wars each returns after a whole year; and some Untitled Marvel spots on the calendar that now belong to Untitled Disney movies.
On the superhero front, the alien is third Deadpool film, which moves forward—from November 18, 2024 to May 3, 2024, placing it at the beginning of the summer movie season. Its old date is taken from a movie called The amateur.
Other important date changes came Avatar exclusivity. It’s been 13 years since the first two films in the series, and while we’re not seeing further double-digit gaps, Avatar 3, 4AND 5—originally set to hit screens in 2024, 2026, and 2028—will now hit screens in 2025, 2029, and 2031. (Unless, of course, they move again.) All three will be released in beginning during December for Christmas, a corridor that has worked well for the franchise in the past.
Other updates from Disney include Untitled Alien The film of the events, now in August next year; Moana (formerly Untitled Disney), a live-action remake of their latest animated hit, slated for summer 2025; and two untitled Star Wars films, due out in May and December of 2026, respectively.
