PSG receive £259m world record bid for Kylian Mbappe in Premier League club circle
Kylian Mbappe’s future is expected to be away from Paris Saint-Germain after the French champions received a world record bid for their star.
PSG have now received a stunning world record bid for Kylian Mbappe that changes the face of football finance.
According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Saudi Arabian big spenders Al Hilal have tabled an incredible €300m offer for Mbappe, which equates to around £259m. That would break the previous record transfer fee, which Neymar earned after his £198m move from Barcelona to PSG in 2017.
Romano adds that there have yet to be talks between Mbappe and Al Hilal, who boast former Wolverhampton Wanderers star Ruben Neves in their ranks. This latest news will ring alarm bells in the Premier League, with several clubs said to be aware of Mbappe’s situation at PSG.
The 24-year-old looks set to leave the French champions this summer after PSG put him up for sale. It comes after the club left him out of their pre-season tour of Japan and South Korea, insisting they only want players who are committed to the team.
PSG are determined not to lose Mbappe for free next summer, with the World Cup winner costing around £163m from Monaco in 2018. PSG believe the superstar has already agreed a deal with Real Madrid for next summer.
It is claimed that Mbappe will not play for PSG again if he does not extend his contract.
Further reports from CBS claim that Mbappe will earn €700m (£604m) for just one year with Al Hilal. That works out to around €13m (£11.2m) a week in wages and would allow him to move to the Bernabeu next summer if he wants. Reports in France say PSG have given Al Hilal permission to hold talks with Mbappe.
However, in terms of the current transfer window, the Saudi Arabian outfit faces competition for his signature now from Real Madrid and teams in the Premier League.
At least five clubs are believed to have contacted PSG over the striker’s availability as his contract situation comes to a head this summer. Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham are said to have made inquiries this weekend.
Meanwhile, Mbappe is hardly the only striker Al Hilal are trying to sign right now – with talks progressing for Fulham’s Aleksandar Mitrovic.
Mbappe has scored 212 goals in 260 games since joining the French giants five years ago, winning five Ligue 1 titles and picking up a Champions League runners-up medal, among other accolades.
